Problem
This 60-year-old psychologist from Florida came to us because she wanted to improve her mouth aesthetically and functionally. She said “I don’t want to wear this removable denture anymore. It makes chewing and talking difficult and I don’t like how it looks”
Approach
After a general examination, a full set of photos, a full set of X-rays, and a CT scan we knew the way to fix her mouth and make it look the best. We decided to place six implants on the top (ALL ON 6) along with the subsequent placement of a zirconium bridge, to replace the removable denture with a fixed prosthesis and give her back an ideal function and outstanding esthetics.
For the lower arch, we chose 2 implants for the future placement of a zirconium bridge following the request that she told us “I only want to replace the missing teeth “. Also, we recommend a dental cleaning and a whitening for her natural teeth.
Visit 1
The implants were placed in the upper and lower jaw, and a sinus lift was necessary to create bone mass to support the implants in that position.
Five days after the surgery, the patient returned home with a temporary prosthesis that she wore to test the size, position, and color of the teeth to make decisions about her final smile.
Visit 2
After 6 months, the patient returned to finalize her treatment. On the first day, we made final impressions, and also we took a bite registration to align the upper and lower arch. Also, we took a new set of pictures to evaluate the new look and make decisions.
At this time, the lab started digital design to create the first plastic prototype to be tested in the patient’s mouth and verify final details, such as speech, bite, and macro esthetics, before the final Zirconium structure was made.
A few days later, we tested the final zirconium structures, they were screwed into the implants, and we verified the fitting through X-rays. New pictures were done to verify changes and the bite was also verified once again. This structure is sent back to the laboratory to begin the porcelain placement, this is the process to give it the outstanding beauty our restorations have.
End
The superstructures were secured onto the implants and the bite was tested. Additionally, pictures were taken.
The next day, we did a final bite adjustment and took final X-rays.
Now the patient looks amazing and she is happy with her looks and function.
