The Rescue Smile Case Study:
Correcting Aggressive Dentistry & Restoring Bite Function
The Challenge
Our patient presented to us in a dental emergency. She had started a smile makeover in another country, but the results were disastrous.
Her natural teeth had been aggressively “shaved” or over-filed, and the temporary restorations left her with a dysfunctional bite.
She knew that if she proceeded, she was headed toward a long-term dental failure. She needed an expert team to rescue her smile and restore her oral health.

The Solution
Bio-Mechanical Reconstruction
After a detailed clinical analysis using 3D X-rays and digital facial mapping, our team identified two major issues:
Structural Damage: The upper front teeth had been filed so severely that veneers were no longer a viable option; they required full-coverage crowns for protection.
Bite Interference (Underbite Tendency): The patient’s lower jaw was slightly larger than the upper, creating a functional conflict.
To solve this, we suggested “Opening the Bite.” By strategically increasing the vertical dimension of her teeth, we created the necessary “overjet” (space between upper and lower teeth). This allowed us to design larger, more aesthetic upper incisors without them being “hit” or damaged by the lower jaw during chewing.
The Plan: 14 restorations on the upper jaw (including 6 Zirconia crowns for the front teeth) and 8 Zirconia veneers on the lower jaw.
The Process:
The Diagnostic Mock-Up: We began with a 3D-printed plastic version of her future smile. This allowed the patient to “test-drive” the new bite position to ensure comfort before any permanent work began.
Refining the Foundation: We carefully refined the previous aggressive preparations to ensure a healthy fit and long-term seal for the new restorations.
Lab Collaboration: On Day 11, the patient reviewed the final restorations. She requested a minor aesthetic adjustment to match her personal taste. Because we have an in-house laboratory, our technicians made the modifications immediately.
The Delivery: On Day 12, after testing the restorations in real-life chewing situations, the final bite was verified, and a custom mouthguard was delivered to protect her investment.

The Result
The patient’s “dental disaster” was transformed into a stable, functional, and radiant smile.
She regained her confidence and, more importantly, a healthy, balanced bite.
